Summary
This study compared two treatment approaches for people with a severe leak in their mitral heart valve and weakened heart muscle. Researchers tested whether adding a minimally invasive procedure (using the MitraClip device) to the best standard medical care was better than standard care alone. They followed 304 patients for two years to see which approach better reduced deaths and hospital stays for heart failure.
