Antioxidant trial aims to tame Kids' gut inflammation, cut steroid need

NCT ID NCT05539625

Summary

This study aimed to see if adding a daily MitoQ antioxidant capsule to standard treatment could better control ulcerative colitis in children and teens. It planned to test if MitoQ improved symptoms, reduced gut inflammation, and helped patients avoid stronger medications like steroids. The trial was designed as a feasibility study to see if a larger, definitive trial could be run, but it was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled.
