NCT ID NCT04288635

First seen Dec 10, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding specific nutrients to cells from septic shock patients can improve how their mitochondria (the cell's power plants) work. Septic shock is a severe infection that causes organ failure and has a high death rate. Researchers will take blood samples from 55 adults in the ICU and test the cells in a lab to see if the nutrients help restore energy production.
