First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a supplement called MitoQ can improve blood vessel function and lower blood pressure in Black and non-Black adults aged 45-75. Researchers wanted to understand if problems with tiny energy-producing parts of cells (mitochondria) help explain why Black Americans face higher rates of high blood pressure and heart disease. Participants took MitoQ or a placebo daily for 8 weeks, and the team measured blood vessel health, blood pressure, and markers of stress in the body.
