Mirror therapy shows promise for Post-Stroke pain and swelling

NCT ID NCT07428811

First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looks at whether task-based mirror therapy can ease pain, swelling, and improve arm movement in stroke survivors who develop shoulder-hand syndrome. About 34 people aged 45-75 will be split into two groups: one gets mirror therapy plus standard care, the other gets standard care alone. The therapy involves doing specific hand and arm movements while watching the reflection of their unaffected arm in a mirror, which tricks the brain into thinking the affected arm is moving correctly.
