First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study will test whether a robot named MIROKI can help children aged 4 to 18 feel less anxious during radiotherapy for cancer. Six children will have some sessions with the robot and some without, while their heart rate and behavior are monitored. The goal is to see if the robot can reduce anxiety and possibly reduce the need for sedation.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a non-drug way to ease anxiety in children during radiotherapy, possibly reducing the need for sedation.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early study with only 6 children, so results may not apply broadly. The robot's effect on anxiety may be minimal or inconsistent.
