Hidden brain fog in liver disease: new study sheds light

NCT ID NCT04807803

First seen Apr 19, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looked at 82 adults with liver scarring (cirrhosis) and high blood pressure in the liver (portal hypertension) to find out how common mild thinking problems are. Participants took simple tests like naming animals and connecting numbers, plus had blood ammonia levels checked. The goal was to better understand the link between these thinking issues and liver blood flow problems, without offering any treatment.
