First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study compares two sedatives—dexmedetomidine and midazolam—in children on breathing machines to see which one reduces delirium (a type of brain dysfunction) and improves recovery. About 372 children aged up to 11 years will take part. The goal is to find a safer sedation method that lowers risks like longer hospital stays and long-term thinking or memory problems.
