First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study looks at how two mind-body treatments—mindfulness meditation and therapeutic hypnosis—work in the brains of older adults (60+) with chronic pain. 375 participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: meditation, hypnosis, or story listening (control). Researchers will use brain scans (fMRI) and EEG to understand how these approaches reduce pain and for whom they work best.
