Can meditation calm the shakes? new study tests mindfulness for Parkinson's tremor
NCT ID NCT05168046
Summary
This small pilot study explored whether a mindfulness meditation program could help reduce the embarrassment and impact of hand tremors in people with Parkinson's disease. Researchers monitored 21 participants, some practicing mindfulness and others receiving usual care, using smartwatches to track tremor duration and severity in daily life. The main goal was to see if the approach was practical and showed enough promise to justify a larger, controlled study.
