Mindfulness vs. standard diabetes education: which helps distress more?

NCT ID NCT05195138

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This pilot study tested whether adding mindfulness training to standard diabetes education is practical and helpful for adults with type 2 diabetes who feel high distress about their condition. 36 adults from low-income backgrounds took part in either an 8-week mindfulness-based diabetes program or standard diabetes self-management classes. The main goal was to see if the program was acceptable and feasible, not to measure long-term health outcomes.
