Mindfulness shows promise in small addiction study, but relapses still occur
NCT ID NCT07417579
Summary
This small, completed study looked at whether an 8-week mindfulness and meditation program could help people with substance use disorders stay in recovery. Three adults participated in weekly sessions and daily practice to learn stress management and coping skills. While all participants reported feeling less stressed and more mindful, two of the three relapsed within a year, showing the program may help but is not a guaranteed cure.
