A calming breath before surgery: simple exercise aims to stabilize Moms' blood pressure
NCT ID NCT07494955
Summary
This study is testing if a brief, guided breathing exercise can help prevent a common and significant drop in blood pressure that often happens after spinal anesthesia for a planned cesarean section. Researchers will enroll 150 pregnant women and randomly assign half to do a 5-minute mindfulness breathing exercise right before their spinal block, while the other half receives standard care. The main goal is to see if this simple, non-drug technique can lessen the severity of the blood pressure drop and reduce the need for medication to correct it.
