Breathe away the pain: Pre-Surgery training may boost shoulder surgery recovery

NCT ID NCT05917262

First seen May 23, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether brief mindfulness breathing, heart rate biofeedback, or pain education before shoulder surgery can reduce pain, improve shoulder function, sleep, and mood afterward. About 120 adults with chronic shoulder pain scheduled for surgery will be randomly assigned to one of these three programs. The goal is to find a simple, drug-free way to support recovery and prevent long-term pain.
