Virtual Mind-Body skills may ease chronic pain for rural veterans

NCT ID NCT06568250

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested a 12-week virtual program called RAMP that teaches mind-body skills to help rural veterans manage chronic pain. Forty veterans participated in weekly group sessions and coaching via video. The goal was to see if the program is feasible and acceptable, not yet to prove it works.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

RAMP program (behavioral intervention: mind-body skills training, group sessions, and coaching)

What this could lead to

If successful, this approach could offer a practical, non-drug option for managing chronic pain in rural veterans who have limited access to care.

What could go wrong

This is a small, single-arm pilot study with only 40 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The program requires reliable internet and video access, which may be a barrier for some.
