Midwives' views on teeth: a new survey could shape future dental advice
NCT ID NCT07572799
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study asks 200 practicing midwives in Germany about their role in oral health for pregnant women and young children. Through an anonymous online survey, researchers will learn how confident midwives feel giving dental advice, what barriers they face, and what training they need. No treatments or interventions are tested—just gathering information to improve future care.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could highlight where midwives need more training to help prevent early childhood cavities and improve oral health advice during pregnancy.
What could go wrong
This is only a survey, not a treatment trial. It will not directly improve anyone's health, and results may not apply outside Germany or to all midwives.
