Pill may help sepsis patients escape ICU faster

NCT ID NCT06319248

Summary

This study is testing if giving an oral medication called midodrine early on can help people with sepsis and low blood pressure get off strong intravenous (IV) medications sooner. Researchers hope this will lead to shorter stays in the intensive care unit and hospital, and a more comfortable recovery with fewer tubes and lines. The trial will involve about 308 patients who are newly diagnosed with sepsis and need medication to support their blood pressure.
