Rare disease study probes inner workings of blood pressure drugs

NCT ID NCT02897063

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looks at how two medications, midodrine and droxidopa, affect the veins in the abdomen of people with autonomic failure—a condition where the body can't control blood pressure properly. Researchers will measure changes in heart function when participants are tilted upright. About 34 adults aged 40-80 with conditions like Parkinson's disease or multiple system atrophy will take part. The goal is to learn more, not to test a new treatment.
