Could a drug duo help kids with liver disease avoid serious problems?

NCT ID NCT06091345

First seen Mar 28, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looked at 61 children with severe liver scarring (cirrhosis) and fluid buildup in the belly (ascites). Researchers wanted to see if giving two drugs together—midodrine (raises blood pressure) and albumin (a protein that helps circulation)—works better than midodrine alone to prevent complications like kidney injury, low sodium, and confusion. The goal is to keep these children stable and improve their chances of reaching a liver transplant if needed.
