First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested a new microwave imaging device called Wavelia #2 to see if it can detect and measure breast cancers and benign lumps. 73 women with breast abnormalities larger than 1 cm were scanned. The goal was to see how well the device finds lesions and tells cancerous from non-cancerous ones, using safe, non-ionizing radiation.

Active substance

Wavelia #2 microwave breast imaging device

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a safe, radiation-free screening tool for breast cancer detection.

What could go wrong

This is a small pilot study with only 73 participants, so results may not apply to the general population. The device is still experimental and not yet proven for routine use.
