Zooming in on wound care: can a microscope improve healing?
NCT ID NCT07323615
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two ways of cleaning chronic skin wounds: using a surgical microscope versus just the naked eye. About 98 adults with wounds from diabetes, pressure, or injury will be randomly assigned to one method. Researchers will measure wound healing, pain, and drainage over one week to see if the microscope offers any advantage.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- surgical microscope
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could show that using a microscope for wound cleaning leads to faster healing and less pain.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 98 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The microscope may not make a meaningful difference over standard care.
