Microbotox: a new needle trick for shiny faces?
NCT ID NCT07526870
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot study tested whether very small doses of botulinum toxin (microbotox) injected into the skin around the eyes could reduce oiliness and shrink large pores. Thirty adults with mild to moderate fine wrinkles received one treatment. Researchers measured sebum production and patient satisfaction after six weeks. The goal was to see if this approach is safe and effective for improving skin texture without freezing muscles.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Botulinum toxin type A (Dysport®) given as tiny skin injections
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, low-risk cosmetic option for reducing facial oiliness and large pores.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study with only 30 people and no comparison group, so results may not be reliable or generalizable. The effect may be minor or temporary.
