First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study follows 70 infants with cystic fibrosis to see if a germ called Porphyromonas catoniae, measured at 12 months old, can predict if they will get a serious lung infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa by age 3. Researchers collect spit and stool samples over time to track these germs. The goal is to find early warning signs that could help doctors prevent lung damage.
