New scan could help surgeons see cancer borders in real time

NCT ID NCT07285564

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study is testing whether a detailed PET-CT scan (called micro-PET-CT) can accurately show the edges of head and neck cancers during surgery. Ten adults with operable tumors will receive the scan, and the results will be compared to standard lab analysis of the removed tissue. If successful, this approach could help surgeons remove all cancer cells more precisely.
