First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested a new type of cochlear implant that is completely hidden under the skin, with no external parts. The goal was to see if it helps adults with severe hearing loss understand speech better than before surgery. Thirty adults who could not benefit from hearing aids took part. They received the implant and completed hearing tests and quality-of-life questionnaires before and after the procedure.
