Open-Source hearing aid could make better hearing more accessible
NCT ID NCT03686046
First seen Jul 02, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026
Summary
This study tests an open-source speech-processing platform, called the Master Hearing Aid, as a wearable hearing aid for people with sensorineural hearing loss. Participants will wear the device in real-world settings and adjust it to their liking, then complete speech perception tests and interviews about its performance and acceptability. The goal is to see if this customizable, research-focused platform can be a practical hearing aid option.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to more customizable and affordable hearing aid options for people with sensorineural hearing loss.
