WhatsApp coaching boosts self-care for homebound elderly
NCT ID NCT06879457
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a mobile health program using WhatsApp video calls can help homebound older adults manage their own care better. 130 participants aged 60+ will receive six coaching sessions over three months from a nurse. The goal is to see if this person-centered approach improves their confidence and ability to handle daily tasks.

- WhatsApp video call coaching sessions with a nurse case manager
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that a simple mobile health program helps homebound seniors feel more confident and independent in their daily lives.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with only 130 participants. The results may not apply to all homebound older adults, and the program relies on having a smartphone and internet access.
