First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding milk fat globule membrane (MFGM) to ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) helps brain development and reduces death, hospitalization, or persistent malnutrition in 1,600 children aged 6-59 months with severe acute malnutrition in Sierra Leone. Children receive either MFGM-enriched or standard RUTF for up to 12 weeks, with regular health checks and developmental tests. The goal is to improve both survival and long-term cognitive outcomes.
