Could a simple steroid boost stroke recovery?

NCT ID NCT07175649

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a steroid (methylprednisolone) to standard clot-removal treatment helps people recover better after a severe stroke caused by a large blockage. About 912 adults aged 18-85 with acute stroke will be randomly assigned to receive either the steroid or a placebo before their clot removal procedure. The main goal is to see if more people achieve functional independence (able to care for themselves) at 90 days.
