NCT ID NCT02025855
First seen Dec 26, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving methadone to ICU patients on breathing machines could help them get off the machines sooner. Methadone is a long-acting painkiller that can prevent withdrawal symptoms from other opioids. The study planned to compare methadone to placebo in 9 patients, but it was stopped early, so results are limited.
