One shot before surgery could cut painkiller use for weeks

NCT ID NCT07485803

Summary

This study is testing whether a single dose of methadone given right before knee replacement surgery can improve pain control and reduce the need for other pain medications in the weeks after the operation. Researchers will compare pain levels, opioid use, side effects, and recovery quality in about 192 patients. The goal is to find a better way to manage post-surgery pain that might help people use fewer opioids overall.
