First seen Apr 09, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tests whether metformin, a common diabetes medication, can prevent Alzheimer's dementia in people with mild cognitive impairment. About 326 overweight adults aged 55-90 without diabetes will take either metformin or a placebo for 18 months. Researchers will track memory, brain scans, and blood markers to see if the drug slows cognitive decline.
