First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tests whether metformin, a common diabetes medication, is safe and can protect the brain in people aged 55-75 with multiple sclerosis (MS). Participants will take metformin or a placebo for 9 months, and researchers will use MRI scans to measure nerve health. The goal is to see if metformin can slow age- and MS-related damage, potentially improving disability outcomes.
