Common diabetes drug may ease heart failure struggle

NCT ID NCT05093959

Summary

This study is testing if metformin, a medication commonly used for diabetes, can help older adults with a specific type of heart failure feel better. Researchers will give 86 participants either metformin or a placebo pill for 20 weeks to see if it improves their ability to exercise and their quality of life. The goal is to see if this existing, safe drug can be repurposed to manage symptoms in patients for whom treatment options are limited.
