Summary
This pilot study looks at how the diabetes drug metformin reaches the lens of the eye and whether it can slow the growth of lens cells in the lab. Researchers will measure metformin levels in lens capsules and blood from 40 diabetic patients having cataract surgery. The goal is to understand if metformin might help prevent or delay cataracts.
