First seen Feb 20, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study looks at the best ways to help patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) come off a breathing tube. It compares different training methods for healthcare workers and two types of oxygen therapy after the tube is removed. Over 13,000 adults on breathing machines for more than 24 hours took part. The goal is to find which approach reduces deaths and improves care.
