First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested a thinking-based therapy called metacognitive strategy training (MCST) in 72 people who had a stroke within the past 9 months. The therapy teaches problem-solving skills to improve daily activities like dressing or cooking. Results showed MCST helped participants perform both trained and new tasks better than standard occupational therapy, with moderate improvements in arm movement.
