Brain training after stroke shows big gains in everyday tasks

NCT ID NCT04099511

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tested a special thinking strategy training (called CO-OP) to help people who had a stroke improve their ability to do everyday activities like dressing or cooking. 72 adults who had a stroke within the last 9 months took part. The training focused on using problem-solving skills to perform tasks, rather than just repeating exercises. Results suggest this approach may work better than standard therapy for improving daily function and reducing movement problems.
