Can a simple blood test predict blindness before it starts?
NCT ID NCT06682819
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at people who carry genetic changes linked to Leber Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON) but still have normal vision. Researchers want to see if certain chemicals in the blood and tears can signal early nerve damage in the eye, before vision loss occurs. The goal is to find a way to detect and possibly prevent blindness in the future. About 90 participants will be involved.
