First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares menthol-flavored and tobacco-flavored e-cigarettes to see which helps adult menthol smokers switch from regular cigarettes. 800 participants who smoke at least 5 menthol cigarettes daily will use the assigned e-cigarette for 12 weeks. The main goal is to see how many completely switch to e-cigarettes by week 12.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Menthol-flavored electronic cigarette
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that menthol-flavored e-cigarettes are a more effective tool to help menthol smokers switch away from combustible cigarettes.
What could go wrong
This is a behavioral study, not a treatment trial. Results may not apply to all smokers, and switching to e-cigarettes still carries health risks.
