Can thinking about exercise make you stronger?
NCT ID NCT07155655
Summary
This small pilot study explored whether combining motivational techniques with mental practice could improve lower back and hip strength in healthy people. Forty participants were split into groups to either imagine movements, watch movements, or do these activities with added motivation, all done online over four weeks. The main goal was to gather preliminary evidence on whether this type of mental training, especially when motivated, can physically strengthen core muscles without causing pain.
