Women's hormones and muscle growth: new study aims to fill research gap
NCT ID NCT07258576
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how natural menstrual cycles and oral contraceptive use affect muscle protein synthesis after resistance training. Twenty recreationally active women will consume protein drinks and undergo muscle biopsies to measure protein building. The goal is to understand if hormone fluctuations change how muscles respond to exercise and protein, which could lead to better fitness advice for women.
