Heart MRI breakthrough could unlock Diabetes-HFpEF mystery

NCT ID NCT06652763

First seen May 03, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study uses a new type of heart MRI scan with a special dye (manganese) to take detailed pictures of the heart. Researchers want to learn why people with both heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and type 2 diabetes often have worse outcomes. They will compare 40 people with HFpEF (half with diabetes) and 20 healthy volunteers to see differences in heart function, calcium uptake, and energy use. This is an observational study, not a treatment.
