New hope for memory loss in elderly epilepsy patients

NCT ID NCT07193277

Summary

This study is testing whether a drug called butylphthalide can help improve memory and thinking problems in older adults who have epilepsy. 220 participants aged 60-85 with epilepsy and mild to moderate memory issues will take either the drug or a placebo pill for 48 weeks, while continuing their regular seizure medications. The main goal is to see if the drug improves scores on a standard memory and thinking test.
