First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study brings together 15 dermatologists to agree on the best ways to diagnose and treat melasma, a skin condition that causes dark patches on the face. Using a survey method called Delphi, experts will share their knowledge anonymously over several rounds. The goal is to create clear, evidence-based guidelines that help doctors worldwide provide more consistent care.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could produce clear, expert-backed guidelines to help doctors treat melasma more consistently and effectively worldwide.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage consensus study with only 15 experts, not a clinical trial testing a treatment. The guidelines may not reflect all patient experiences or lead to new therapies.
