Brain mapping breakthrough could sharpen epilepsy surgery

NCT ID NCT03893916

Summary

This study aims to compare two advanced brain scanning techniques—magnetoencephalography (MEG) and high-resolution electroencephalography (EEG)—to see which is better at pinpointing the exact area of the brain causing seizures. It involves 100 people with drug-resistant epilepsy who are already planning to have surgery. The goal is to improve surgical planning by finding the most accurate method to map the seizure source before an operation.
