VR meditation may help voice disorder patients find their voice
NCT ID NCT07176013
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study explores whether adding guided meditation through a virtual reality headset at the start of voice therapy sessions can help people with voice disorders learn and retain treatment better. Sixty participants will use the TRIPP app on a Meta Quest 2 headset to meditate before their regular voice therapy. Researchers will measure changes in voice quality and how much the voice problem affects daily life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Meditation via immersive virtual reality (TRIPP app on Meta Quest 2 headset)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a simple, drug-free way to boost the benefits of voice therapy for people with voice disorders and anxiety.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early feasibility study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The meditation and VR approach may not improve voice outcomes more than standard therapy alone.
