Wearable sensors track dementia Patients' daily motivation

NCT ID NCT02496312

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether wearable sensors could measure apathy (loss of motivation) in people with frontotemporal dementia during everyday activities. Researchers compared 14 participants—some with dementia and some healthy—to see if sensors could detect patterns of goal-directed behavior. The goal was to find better ways to measure this challenging symptom in real-life settings.
