First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 06, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looked at whether providing free, healthy meal kits to 40 low-income families in rural Maine could reduce food insecurity and improve mental health. Caregivers and their children (ages 6-12) received 10 meals per week for 4 weeks, plus a cooking app. Researchers measured diet quality, stress, family functioning, and child behavior to see if the program was helpful and practical.
