Could a psychedelic drug help new moms heal from trauma and addiction?

NCT ID NCT05219175

Summary

This study is testing whether MDMA-assisted therapy can help new mothers who are struggling with both post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and opioid addiction. It will involve 15 participants who are 6 to 12 months postpartum and are already receiving stable treatment for their opioid use. The main goal is to see if this therapy is safe and feasible for this group and if it can reduce PTSD symptoms and potentially help with addiction recovery and mother-infant bonding.
